1. Freeman’s Organic Farm

Freeman‘s Organic Farm, located at 618 Tomewin Mountain Road in Currumbin Valley, Queensland, has been run by four generations of the same family since 1915. Originally the largest commercial banana farm in Australia, the farm has since diversified its products to include a wide variety of seasonal fruits, vegetables, and herbs.
In addition to its produce, Freeman‘s Organic Farm also offers services such as guided farm tours, mums and bubs outings, yoga sessions, and live music from local artists. There is also an Organic Café that serves fresh coffee and light snacks sourced from the farm. Guests can take a picnic to the picturesque Arthur‘s lookout area, and purchase organic produce from the farm‘s stall before leaving.
The farm also features a special tour for children and their families. Every Sunday at 1:00 pm, Farmer David leads a one hour tour of the property, which gives an insight into a working farm and allows children to pick their seasonal vegetables for free. Tickets are $15 per adult and children under 12 are free, and no booking is required.

2. The Historic Rivermill
Location: 950 Beaudesert Nerang Rd, Mount Nathan
Located only 15 minutes from Nerang, the Historic Rivermill is a modernized family–friendly dining destination that still maintains its rustic charm.
Dine alfresco and take in the picturesque views of the Nerang River, or stroll along the riverbank and relax on the lush green lawns under the shady trees.
A wooden jetty that is home to resident ducks and turtles is also available. Kids will love the animal petting area where they can get up close and personal to feed the alpacas, deer, and goats. A gold coin donation is required to receive a bag of food. Breakfast, lunch, treats, and ice cream are served in the café.

3. Farm and Co
Location: 529 Cudgen Road, Cudgen, NSW
Farm and Co, located at 529 Cudgen Road, Cudgen, NSW, is well known for its Instagram–worthy sunflowers that are grown annually.
You can buy them from the farm and also enjoy a wholesome meal made from produce grown directly from the farm at their Kingscliff café. Delivery and pick up for your fruit and vegetable needs are also available from Farm and Co.

4. Tropical Fruit World
Where: 29 Duranbah Road, Duranbah, NSW
Located just over the New South Wales border in the Tweed region, Tropical Fruit World is one of the most popular fruit farms to visit near the Gold Coast. Established in 1983, the farm initially farmed only avocados before expanding and rebranding over the years.
When you visit the farm, you can tour the plantation and learn about its history, as well as sample seasonal fruits from the workshop. There is also an island retreat in the heart of the farm with a kid‘s playground and mini train ride, as well as a wildlife boat cruise from the island to Fauna Park – an animal petting area.
Highlight for the kids: Fauna Park, where you can meet the local farm animals, along with kangaroos and emus. Open seven days a week from 10.00 am – 4.00 pm Queensland time, entry to the market and café is free, while tickets must be purchased for the farm tour and tastings.

5. Chambers Flat Strawberry Farm
At Chambers Flat Strawberry Farm, located on 912 Chambers Flat Road in Chambers Flat, Queensland, visitors can buy and pick their own strawberries from June to November every year.
The shop at the farm opens in June and sells fresh strawberries, homemade strawberry ice cream, and other local produce. From August to October, guests can purchase a container from the shop and wander the rows of the berry patch, picking their own strawberries.
Just 55 minutes away from the Gold Coast, Chambers Flat Strawberry Farm is an ideal location for those on the South Side of Brisbane.
