We buy our glasses online through Bjorn Blue after we were recommended the company by a friend in Sydney.
This company specialise in blue light glasses but they also offer prescription glasses at significantly less cost than an optometrist.
What we love about Bjorn Blue is that it is exactly the same, if not better quality than you get from an Australian optometrist without paying the extra $$ of a physical store. The founders of Bjorn Blue have been in the optical industry for over 40 years and pride themselves on using the best quality lenses available in Australia through the use of a professional optical lab to create their prescription glasses, just like you would get in an optometrist.
If you do not want blue light added into your lens, it is possible to request to have it without but I always get it as it costs an extra $70 from a store like OPSM etc and it’s included in the price of Bjorn Blues. They also include free UV 400 protection (same as sunglasses without the tint) and an anti reflective coating which most optical retailers charge more for.

Specsavers are a cheaper option than OPSM but I still aren’t a huge fan of the add ons. When shopping online, I really like the price I see at the start to be the price it end up as, at the end of the day.
I also find specsavers to be a little on the dorky side. Sure, the frames are relatively affordable but they arent really a fashion statement. I prefer something a little trendier on my face if I’m going to wear it all day.
But, my Nanna is really happy with her specsavers frame so if you don’t care what they look like, this could be somewhere to check out.

Clearly
Clearly is another place you can buy glasses online in Australia. In my opinion, they are clearly quite cheap and nasty so I would avoid them.
Although I don’t know this for a fact, the price point seems to indicate they source their glasses overseas and I prefer the product I’m buying to be Australian made.
On the plus side, they have a very wide range of glasses so if you want a particular style or choice of frame, this store is worthwhile checking out and for this reason, due to the amount of choice on the website and the fact they are a popular option in Australia, I have included them as one of the best places to buy prescription glasses online in Australia. They also offer free shipping which is always nice, although tends to be offered by most online retailers of glasses if you spend over a certain amount of money.
I also really appreciate that they are transparent and don’t hide their negative reviews like this one – These rimless frames are held together with screws rather than the 2 posts usually seen with rimless. The screws are relatively large and intrusive. I can’t stop seeing them. Also, I would not bother with with the extra C Shield coating. It doesn’t keep the glasses cleaner.
Vision Direct
VisionDirect is another similar concept to Clearly. If you are looking for a cheap pair of glasses online, definitely consider giving these guys a go.
What I don’t like similarly to Clearly is based on the price point, I do not think they are sourcing their products in Australia and if that doesn’t matter too much to you, they might be worth giving a go. They have a lot of stock which I really like, and they sort it by shape which is super helpful but I did find myself scrolling through their site for ages just to find a pair I kinda liked.
They do however stock exclusive brands like RayBan Oakley Gucci etc., with free shipping on orders over $99 and hey free shipping always hits the spot!
